His name was Mayor Goofy — a friendly golden retriever. And yes… he was the official, legal mayor of Rabbit Hash, Kentucky.
How Did This Happen? Old voting booth with a sign saying 'Write-in Candidate.' Town residents casting ballots, laughing and writing a dog’s name.
It started as a joke. A fundraiser. People could vote for anyone — even their pets. But when the votes were counted… the dog won. By a landslide.
But the town didn’t stop there. They gave him a sash. Held parades. Tourists came from all over just to meet 'The Honorable Mayor Dog.''
So yes… a dog was once a mayor. And maybe… he was the best leader they ever had.
