বৃহস্পতিবার রাজধানীর তেজগাঁওয়ে প্রধান উপদেষ্টার কার্যালয়ে অনুষ্ঠিত বৈঠকে এসব সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়। সভায় সভাপতিত্ব করেন প্রধান উপদেষ্টা অধ্যাপক মুহাম্মদ ইউনূস।

সিদ্ধান্ত অনুযায়ী, মেডিকেল ও ডেন্টাল কলেজে মুক্তিযোদ্ধা ও শহীদ মুক্তিযোদ্ধা পরিবারের জন্য সংরক্ষিত ৫% কোটা বহাল থাকবে। তবে এর প্রয়োগে নতুন নিয়ম হতে পারে।

সরকারি চাকরিতে কোটা পদ্ধতি কীভাবে থাকবে বা সংস্কার হবে, তা নিয়ে জনপ্রশাসন মন্ত্রণালয়কে সুপারিশ প্রস্তুত করতে বলা হয়েছে।

এছাড়া, মাধ্যমিক ও উচ্চশিক্ষা বিভাগকে ভর্তি সংক্রান্ত কোটা ব্যবস্থার প্রভাব ও প্রয়োগ নিয়ে মতামত দিতে নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়েছে।

এই সিদ্ধান্ত কোটা সংস্কার আন্দোলনের দাবির পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ হয়ে উঠেছে। এখন দেখার বিষয়, চূড়ান্ত নীতিমালায় কী পরিবর্তন আনা হয়!
