As we sang about in our opening song, one part of God’s Nature is to be a Helper to us. We can depend on Him to inspire us, strengthen us, and even defend us when it’s needed! But we also see many other wonderful qualities about God in the scriptures that we can write about.
CTA: If you are not familiar with the phrase “ministering to the Lord,” put “yes” in the comments and we will send you a link to the teaching series we just completed on this topic.
📖Here are a few of the scriptures about the Lord as our Helper:
“For the same God who made everything, our Creator and our mighty maker, he himself is our HELPER and defender!”
Psalms 124:8 TPT
“Hear, O Jehovah, and be gracious unto me; Jehovah, be my HELPER.”
Psalms 30:10 DARBY
“Hear me, Adonai, and show me your favor! Adonai, be my HELPER!””
Tehillim (Psa) 30:11 CJB
“Because you are my HELPER, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings.”
Psalms 63:7 NLT
✝️ The Bible also has many verses about the Lord as our Savior.
“Come quickly to help me, O Lord my SAVIOR.”
Psalms 38:22 NLT
2 Samuel 22:2-3 NLT
[David] sang:
“The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my SAVIOR;
my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me,
and my place of safety.
He is my refuge, my SAVIOR,
the one who saves me from violence.
Zephaniah 3:17 NLT
17 For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a mighty SAVIOR.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”
Isaiah 43:11 NLT
11 “I, yes I, am the Lord,
and there is no other SAVIOR.”
🙏🏻 Here are a few about the Lord as our Refuge:
Psalms 9:9 NLT
9 The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed,
a REFUGE in times of trouble.
Psalms 46:1 NLT
For the choir director: A song of the descendants of Korah, to be sung by soprano voices.
1 God is our REFUGE and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble.
Psalms 59:16 NLT
16 But as for me, I will sing about your power.
Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love.
For you have been my REFUGE,
a place of safety when I am in distress.
Psalms 59:17 NLT
17 O my Strength, to you I sing praises,
for you, O God, are my REFUGE,
the God who shows me unfailing love.
🎵You can take any of these scriptures and create song lyrics that speak directly to the Lord about Who He is in your life. Not only will this build your faith in how great God is, but it will also minister to Him when you sing about His Nature and character. If a verse is not personally addressing God, then you can change it.
✏️Using Psalm 46:1, for example, you can write,
“You are our Refuge and Strength,
Always ready to help in times of trouble.”
✏️Or you can write Isaiah 43:11 this way:
“You are the Lord and there is no other savior.”
CTA: Comment below with a favorite verse that you want to change to speak directly to God. And if you would like to know more about Ministering to the Lord, watch this playlist.
