As families across the community prepared for the Lunar New Year, Tzu Chi KL & Selangor volunteers brought festive warmth to more than 200 care recipient households through the annual distribution event. From ringing the peace bell to selecting festive clothing and sharing a reunion meal, families experienced not only the joy of the season, but also the genuine, enduring care that accompanies it.

What feels different is…
there’s one more person who cares.

因為他們就是好像你的家人這樣
他們很關注你
你需要什麼 他們會幫你申請一下
Care Recipient | Nicholas
They’re like family.
They really care about you.
If you need something, they’ll assist with the application.
Each year before the Lunar New Year, Tzu Chi KL and Selangor hosts a reunion meal for care recipients, adding warmth to the festive season.

We want them to know that
there’re still people who care in the society.
They’re neither marginalised nor forgotten;
someone still sees them.
Wong Paw Ngan receives Tzu Chi’s support due to the high cost of dialysis. Even in under a year, the volunteers’ companionship has brought her comfort during a time of significant change.

At home, It’s just me and it’s quiet.
Coming out
and seeing so many people makes me happy.

Dialysis patients require treatment three times a week.
Their mood is often low
because each session
means sitting there for three to four hours.
When Tzu Chi volunteers visited my mum’s home,
they comforted her, asked how she’s doing,
and even shared a few jokes.
It helped ease her stress.
With consistent companionship and guidance, many care recipients are now giving back. Whether through the bamboo bank or volunteering, their kindness continues to ripple outward.
Care Recipient | See Lai Wah
I’ve been saving in a bamboo bank.
They gave me one,
so I started contributing.
It’s to help others.
Didn’t Master say that by pooling many 50-cent coins,
we can help….
I may not have much,
but I believe this is already good enough.
Care Recipient | Ng Soh Ngoh
They help others,
so I also want to show my gratitude.
I tell my son
that I want to give because
I’m grateful for the help from Tzu Chi and the volunteers.
They keep guiding me,
and I’ve learned so much from them.
Since 1969, Tzu Chi has prepared festive supplies and a vegetarian reunion meal annually during the twelfth lunar month for long-term care recipients. This tradition has also become a warm reunion day for volunteers and care recipients in Malaysia.
