Iso-Syöte: The Winter wonderland

Iso-syote, the southernmost part of Finland, is approx. 150km from Oulu, our starting point of the trip. I thought not having a snow here in Oulu meant not having snow there as well, meaning no snow capped trees and the winter wonderland experience.

But oh my my! Starting from approx 30 minutes before the destination, I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was otherworldly, a paradise. I am getting emotional just picturing the view in my mind right now. Pristine wilderness.

It was also the first time I didn’t fall (much) while I skied. We booked a 100 min ski course, and the instructor was probably the most patient person ever. He made sure everyone fulfilled their goal of the day. And everyone did. He was content with our progress and so were we.

It was also our first snowmobile experience and Aayush had the most thrilling 2 hr of his life. Ya, you need to ride, sitting behind isn’t as much fun. But I surely did manage to ride it for a while

It was also our farewell trip since we are leaving Oulu after a week 😢. I am going to dearly miss the place and the people who made me feel home away from home. But again, it is only goodbye and not a farewell.

The trip was special for so many reasons. For me it was a reminder that there are so many things to be grateful for everyday. 😇
