Its final version was adopted into the US Code on October 19, 1976. It has 15 Chapters and 20 Appendices. The Act protects authors’ literary, musical, dramatic, choreographic, pictorial, graphic, sculptural, audiovisual, and architectural works. Under Section 102 of the Act, the work should be original and fixed to a tangible medium to avail copyright protection. However, the Act does not protect any idea, procedure, process, system, type of operation, concept, principle, or discovery, no matter in what way it is described, explained, illustrated, or embodied in a copyrighted work.
