😭 Look at that tiny open beak. 💕

April 5, 2026. 11:14 in the morning at Big Bear Valley.

Chick 1 — born just yesterday — lifted its little head, opened its
beak, and took its first successful bite. And in this close-up you
can see every single detail. The soft white natal down. The tiny
open mouth. The gentle precision of a parent feeding a life that
only just arrived in this world.

And right beside Chick 1? Chick 2. Already here. Already fluffy.
Already part of the Big Bear Valley family. 🐣🐣

Two eaglets. Both in this frame. Both alive and perfect.

Jackie and Shadow did it. After everything — every cold night,
every egg roll, every fish delivery, every piece of fluff, every
shift change across 35 days of incubation — they did it.

Two babies. Both eating. Both growing. Both exactly where they
are supposed to be. 💕🌲🦅

🍼 FIRST FEEDING FACTS:
In the first hours after hatching eagle parents begin feeding their
chick tiny pieces of fish or prey — smaller than you can imagine.
The parent tears the food into micro-pieces and delivers them one
at a time directly into the chick's open beak. The chick's first
successful bite signals that it is strong, healthy, and ready to
grow. For Jackie and Shadow — two successful first feedings in
two days. This family is thriving. 💕

🦅 ABOUT JACKIE & SHADOW:
Jackie is believed to be the first bald eagle ever hatched and
fledged in Big Bear Valley. Her parents were named Ricky and Lucy.
Shadow won Jackie over in 2018. Together they have now raised SIX
eaglets: Simba, Spirit, Sunny, Gizmo, and now Chick 1 and Chick 2
of 2026. Every single one started exactly like this — a tiny open
beak and a devoted parent. 💕

Egg #1 laid: February 24 — ✅ Chick 1 hatched April 4
Egg #2 laid: February 27 — ✅ Chick 2 also hatched!
