Today we make TWO Paper Plane cocktails created by Sam Ross

Sam created the Paper Plane in 2008 for the Violet Hour bar in Chicago, USA for their Summer menu.

He originally made it with Bourbon, Campari, Amaro Nonio and Lemon juice

But later swapped the Campari from Aperol when he was at Milk and Honey, NYC, due to the Campari being too bitter.

It has now become such a popular cocktail all around the world, it is classed as a 'Modern Classic' cocktail.

The name of the drink was inspired by this song;    • M.I.A. - Paper Planes   one of Sam's favourite song that summer of 08'

The Specs:

22.5 ml or 3/4 oz Bourbon
22.5 ml or 3/4 oz Aperol
22.5 ml or 3/4 oz Amaro Nonino
22.5 ml or 3/4 oz Lemon Juice

Build into shaker
Shake with BIG ASS ICE CUBE
Shake 10 - 12 seconds
Double strain into chilled coupe glasses
Garnish with a lemon twist

35% ABV
Aged in Oak for up to 5 years
Sweeter than Montenegro
Caramel

Made near Fruili, Italy

Amaro Montenegro Differences:
23% ABV
Vanilla
Less bitter
'40 herbs and spices' - It is not known what herbs and spices they use.
Made near Bulgaria, Italy
