Ukrainian officials say the capital Kyiv came under a “massive” missile attack from Russia in the early hours of the morning, triggering widespread air-raid sirens and sending residents scrambling for shelter.
Ukraine’s air force reported that multiple waves of missiles were launched toward the capital, with air defense systems actively intercepting targets over and around the city. Loud explosions were heard across several districts as debris from intercepted missiles fell.
Kyiv’s military administration warned civilians to remain in bomb shelters until the all-clear signal was given, as emergency services rushed to reported impact sites. Authorities said initial information pointed to damage to infrastructure, though details on casualties were still emerging.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, saying Russia continues to target civilian areas and critical facilities in an attempt to break Ukrainian resistance. Moscow has not yet commented on the strike.
