The historic clock tower of Zurgena stands as one of the town’s most recognizable landmarks and a quiet witness to centuries of local life.

Built during the late nineteenth century, the tower reflects the period when many towns across Spain installed public clocks as symbols of civic organization and modern progress. Before personal watches became common, towers like this one regulated daily life — marking the hours for work in the surrounding fields, the opening of markets, and the rhythm of village gatherings.
Constructed from local stone and rising above the surrounding rooftops, the tower occupies a central position within the town, overlooking streets that have gradually grown around it over generations.
