I hope you enjoy this painting session with ‘no plan’. It is great to make a few marks and then let the watercolour and you decide what to do next. I keep things simple by only using a few colours. Enjoy!

Paints: (all Winsor and Newton Artist Quality Paints)
Alizarin Crimson Permanent
French Ultramarine
Light Red
Brushes:
Holbein Hake Brush 2”
Holbein Hake Brush 1.5”
Holbein Hake 1” x 2
Size 12 Pure Kolinsky Round Sable
Chinese Calligraphy Brush – not sure what hair it is
Other:
Tweezers
3M Magic Tape to attach to the board and for the horizon line
Spray Bottle
Tissues
Bowel to tilt the board when dropping in watercolour

Paper - if you can afford it try and use Arches Cold Pressed 300gsm paper or any other 100% cotton paper. Sheets most of the time are the cheapest way to go. I can get Hahnemuhle sheets (53cm x 78cm) for $11.50 Australian from my local art store when buying them one at a time. This gives me 16 sheets of A5 which is much cheaper than buying a pad. If you can afford to buy 50 sheets at a time that can save you a lot of money!

Paints - you only need 6 colours for this course. You can use Winsor and Newton artist quality or Cotman student quality paints. You can use other brands but the colours and names will be different. The colours are:
Yellow Ochre
Paynes Grey
Raw Umber
Burnt Umber
Cobalt Blue
Light Red
You will also mix up a grey in a separate bowl using Cobalt Blue and Light Red

Fan Brush
