Wild dog puppies of the Kruger National Park | Rare footage

The Africa Wild Dog, is also know as know as the Cape Hunting Dog or Painted Dog and is critically endangered.

Location: &beyond Ngala Safari Lodge, Kruger National Park, South Africa.

Date: 1st July 2015

Long description: 8 weeks before we arrived the pack moved onto the property looking for a suitable den site. The Ngala Facebook page mentioned the Alpha female had given birth to 17 puppies at a site on the property and we kept close tabs on it as we were to arrive shortly. On arrival at Ngala we were told we would need to wait 'til our last day to see the dogs, this seemed to take ages but leading up to this we saw the dogs hunting which served as an appetizer for the main event. On arrival at the den there were 4 "caretakers" around the den but no pups in sight. After some waiting for some time, our moment finally arrived and all 17 pups emerged from the den and this lead to a good few hours of play. We were very lucky as a few days after we left the dogs moved to a new den off the property. The rangers at Ngala have reported that all 17 pups are still alive and doing very well.
