Vigilante is the sequel/spin-off of the classic arcade Kung-Fu Master. This game is pretty much the same with better graphics. The only new improvement is the possibility to pick up and use a nunchaku (that can be carried over the following stages if we don't get hit). One button to punch, another one to kick, and if you press up you will jump.

The game's plot involves a lone, professional martial artist who became a vigilante to fight an evil gang called the Skinheads ruled by a man known as the Giant Devil, in order to protect his "turf" and save his girlfriend Madonna, who was kidnapped by them (taken from Wikipedia).

This game is pretty straightforward and extremely easy even in hardest difficulty. The only difference between difficulty levels is the damage that enemies can deal. The main problem to achieve a no-damage run can be the last boss, as when we jump where he stands, it's very likely that we'll get hit. We have to make him move back, and the only way to do that is getting hit, dodging, or hitting him. Another problem is that most of the time, we won't be able to hit the boss the first time we land on his platform. So, what can you do to avoid being hit? You need to come back to the previous platform and then wait him to move a back a little, jump again where he is, and repeat until the game lets you hit him.

I also show how to jump the gap between platforms in the last encounter. This is pretty tricky to do: you need to be just in the exact frame before falling. While crouching, turn over, and then turn over while standing and jump as fast as you can. When you turn over you move a frame, but if at the same time you jump, you can trick the game and avoid falling. It's quite difficult to explain, but maybe you can understand watching the video. Anyway, this is not essential, as you can take the risk and maybe you are lucky and can hit him the first time you jump into his platform. The important thing is that you need to make him move back and get enough space to avoid his kicks, so you can then fight him the normal way.

In my opinion, this is also a classic game from arcades, but it's quite simple as it has the same mechanics as a game from 1984. Irem should have done better. Anyway, fun game to play.
