Spaghetti and meatballs may be one of the most comforting dishes out there. But it’s awfully hard to eat with your hands.
So, we made it easier! Flavorful, cheesy, and oh-so-portable, these delicious meatball sliders are the perfect Game Day snack!
Meatball Sliders
For the meatballs:
1 pound ground beef
1 pound ground Italian sausage
¾ cup bread crumbs
½ cup grated parmesan cheese
½ cup shredded basil
¼ cup minced onion
2 tsp. minced garlic
1 egg
¼ whole milk
Salt and pepper, to taste
Preheat oven to 400 degrees and line a baking tray with parchment paper, set aside.
In a large bowl combine all ingredients and stir together by hand, being careful not to over mix. Using a cookie scoop, portion out meatballs and roll between hands to compress slightly. Place on prepared baking sheet 1-inch apart and bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes.
For the tomato sauce:
1 15oz. can tomato sauce
6oz. tomato paste
2 tsp. Italian seasoning
1 tsp. sugar
Whisk all ingredients together until smooth.
To assemble the sliders:
12-pack dinner rolls, sliced in half
Sliced mozzarella
Sliced provolone
Shredded basil leaves
Prepared meatballs
Prepared tomato sauce
2 TBSP melted butter
In a foil lined pan layer bottom of buns in single row. Cover with slices of mozzarella cheese (it’s ok if they overlap), a layer of sauce, and fresh basil. Place meatballs on top and cover with more sauce and provolone cheese before capping off with buns. Brush sliders with melted butter and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
Cover sliders with foil and bake in 400 degree oven for 10 minutes, or until cheese is melted.
