The government's rationale for this move is the perceived overpopulation in Cairo, with the relocation purportedly providing both residents and government employees in Cairo with more spacious surroundings. However, this justification is not novel, as Egypt's leaders have long been constructing new cities in the desert to address Cairo's density issue, yet none have proven effective. Given the construction progress, this new capital won't offer a resolution either.
