How to Choose What to Focus on in Life

There was a time in my life when I didn't know for sure what I wanted to focus on as my primary goal or main objective (ie: career, direction, etc). There were a lot of different factors it seemed I needed to consider in order to become successful, but I didn't receive much direction related to what I now know matters the most. Here is what I've found makes the biggest impact when choosing what to focus on in life:
1) Ask yourself what you love to do... what you enjoy. What sort of things would you still do if money wasn't an issue?
2) Do some honest self-exploration into what you're really good at... what your natural talents are.
3) Related to your passions and talents, what would be of greatest service to others... what can you do that will help people?
Really check in to your gut feeling on this ... listen to your intuition... be aware of how your body feels when you consider your options. Other people's opinions or societal expectations should not be a major influence here... be true to YOU.
Once you figure out what the intersection is between those 3 factors (your "Sweet Spot"), you're ready to take massive action in the direction of your main life focus! In the process, notice how some tasks or projects seem to be easier for you to tackle yet still reap a high return on investment... it might feel like you're in your 'flow' or in the zone. This is where you want to focus most of your energy.
There will be others tasks that will be easy but have a low return... these can be completed when you feel like it if you have extra time.
Occasionally you might find a big opportunity to take on a more challenging goal, which will require significant effort but will have a major impact; it may be worth considering these as well, depending on your other commitments as well as time and effort involved.
Finally, there will be plenty of "time-waster" tasks that may keep popping up and pulling at your attention... things that are a drag to work on and just don't offer much payback. You need to get good at identifying these and dropping them.
Now, I'm not saying I practice this perfectly in every area of my life, but the more I implement this approach, the better and more rewarding life gets.
