A portion of the Baitarani river embankment caved in over a stretch of more than 40 feet near Kuanr Sahi in Ward No. 4 of Duduranta panchayat under Dasarathpur block in Jajpur district.

Officials and staff of the Water Resources Department reached the spot and began overseeing repair work. Sandbags and bamboo poles are being used to strengthen the damaged stretch with the help of local residents.

The development comes amid rising flood concerns, with floodwater flowing through the Baitarani river for the past two days. The situation has further worsened following a breach in the Kani River.
