033113 MCSO OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING MCPR VER

Описание: The investigation into the officer involved shooting continues Sunday afternoon. As officers attempt to locate family the vehicle has now been removed and taken to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office where Crime Scene Investigators will start the slow process of going through the vehicle.

Just before 3 a.m. Sunday the KIA slammed into a elderly woman stopped for the traffic light at SH 242 and I-45 in front of the McDonalds. With the front of his vehicle under the rear of hers he was able to free it and sped off. A wrecker driver who witnessed the crash followed the driver and called the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

At Greenbridge and Research a patrol unit caught up to them and attempted to stop the vehicle. That vehicle fled at approximately 30 mph east on Research. Troopers were able to spike the right side tires at Six Pines and Research as the vehicle continued east to I-45.

Once on I-45 the driver headed south on the feeder driving close to 40 mph. He continued down to Sawdust where he turned westbound but not before losing a tire. Driving on the rims he drove to the 600 block of Sawdust and entered the CVS Drug parking lot. From there he went around the building into the Wood Forest Bank Operations Center parking lot (former Wal-Mart).

The male driver who was short and balding then drove around the parking lot several times as there is only one exit. It was then officers spotted something in his hand and notified dispatchers.

A deputy finally was able to get ahead of him and got out of his patrol car. That is when the driver accelerated and attempted to run the deputy over. The deputy who has been with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office approximately one year feared for his life and fired three shots at the vehicle.

The driver was hit and taken to Hermann Hospital in the Woodlands I critical condition.

The still unidentified driver died there.
