I went inside Dharavi, Mumbai. Often called Asia’s largest slum.
Most people only hear one story about Dharavi, and it’s usually a negative one. What rarely gets talked about is that this place generates more than $1 billion a year through a massive informal economy.
In this video, I walk through the factories, workshops, and trade networks that keep Dharavi running. From textiles and leather workshops to pottery, recycling, and waste picking, this is a place where almost everything is reused, repaired, or remade. Very little goes to waste.
This video is about understanding how Dharavi’s billion-dollar economy works without formal infrastructure, and why calling it just a “slum” misses the bigger picture.
