Every Multiverse - A tiny live electronic music set-up (M8 Tracker and Faderfox UC4)

This was a quick experiment recorded in November 2022 to test out a new portable set-up. I'm using the Faderfox as a MIDI controller, mapped to control the parameters of various synths and samples within the M8 Tracker. The first two green buttons on the UC4 are also set to mute channels 1 & 2 on the M8.

I also played with the "chance" functions in the M8 Tracker too when setting up sequences, which means the glitchy drums have a life of their own at some points.

Why the experiment? I've been wanting to play gigs again for a while, but while I've enjoyed playing them in the past I do struggle with carrying all my synths and other gear around. I don't like the time it takes to connect wires. Sometimes I don't want to drive, but have to due to all the equipment.

I also get some anxiety before gigs, as I don't like leaving my set-up on stage. I've never fully recovered from an early Myths and Monsters gig where an organiser put my fragile gear upside down on the floor and lost my settings! There's also the risk of equipment theft or drinks spillage in bar venues I've played at.

As a result I've wanted something a bit more portable and I think I've finally cracked it with this as it all fits in rucksack and has minimal wires. It's also no hassle to do a soundcheck, unplug and set-up again before playing.

Since recording this I've worked on another 20 minutes in the same style and I feel able to start pitching for gigs again in the new year.
