This is my cover of every Smash theme that plays in the opening cinematic! For this project I did a mega collab with Ken Kubota, Luiz Fernando Venturelli, Nicholas Yee, and Sihao He.

There were a lot of difficult runs and arpeggios in my arrangement, and for the solo parts the range of the part is quite high. My philosophy with this arrangement was to make it as close as possible to the original. This meant that I carefully mapped out the tempos to match the cinematic exactly, and I retained much of the musical content within the pieces and arranged them into 8 cello parts.

The original Smash Bros. theme was mostly made with synthesizers with wonky rhythms. Both the Melee and Brawl themes were orchestral, with the latter also introducing a choir. The Smash 4 theme introduced a lot of brass and electric guitar. Finally, the Smash Ultimate theme has elements from all of the previous themes together with a vocal line on top. It is my hope that my arrangement has brought out these thematic differences in our interpretation of the music.

Super Smash Bros. has always had a special place in my heart. For a long time this was the only video game that I would play consistently! As you can see in the background of my parts, I have collected a fair amount of Smash related peripherals and trinkets. The music is so exciting that it gets the blood pumping, ready for a fight. I am incredibly thankful for the talent of my friends, and I believe they have captured that essence through their playing.
