In MT29 of our Jaguar XK8 manual transmission swap series, we have a massive announcement: we’re changing direction. After weeks of hard work, I’ve decided to move away from the Aston Martin Tremec gearbox and switch to the ZF S6-53 (from a Jaguar S-Type Diesel).
In this video, I explain the logic behind this "pivot" and unbox our new arrival all the way from Spain. While the Tremec is a legendary box, the challenges of getting it to work in a refined road-going XK8 were mounting up—from prop shaft alignment and flywheel issues to the lack of rubber isolation in the drivetrain.

The Unboxing: Inspecting the "new" ZF S6-53 and its condition.
Prop Shaft Problems: Why the standard 4.2L drive shaft makes the ZF a better choice.
