Can You Image Solar Cells Through Hazy Encapsulant? PL Imaging Says Yes

Описание: In this video, we demonstrate photoluminescence imaging of silicon solar cells at the layup table prior to lamination using the PLus-Spot system.
Although uncured encapsulant appears hazy and obscures cell features in visible light, PL imaging clearly reveals defects through the encapsulant. We explain how this works based on the wavelength dependence of light scattering and why long-wavelength NIR photoluminescence is minimally affected. This capability supports pre-lamination inspection in solar panel manufacturing using photoluminescence or electroluminescence imaging tools.
