Описание: The oil depot, often referred to as a "tank farm" or fuel terminal, is the invisible, industrial lung of the modern economy. While refineries get the glory for chemical engineering and gas stations get the visibility of retail, the depot is the critical logistical node that connects the two. It acts as a massive energetic buffer, a warehouse for liquid power that ensures that a disruption in the supply chain doesn't immediately paralyze a city. These facilities are easily recognized by their defining architecture: rows of colossal, cylindrical storage tanks painted brilliant white to reflect the sun and minimize heat absorption, sitting in silent, geometric precision on the outskirts of industrial zones or ports.

The engineering behind these tanks is far more complex than simple storage. Many utilize "floating roofs"—heavy steel lids that actually float directly on top of the liquid fuel inside the tank, rising and falling with the level of the oil. This design eliminates the "ullage" (the empty space) above the fuel, preventing the buildup of explosive vapors that could turn a spark into a catastrophe. The ground around them is equally engineered; every tank sits inside a "bund wall," a concrete or earthen basin designed to hold 110% of the tank's capacity. If a catastrophic rupture occurs, the fuel is contained in a man-made lake rather than flooding the surrounding environment.

Operational life inside a depot is defined by a paranoia of static electricity and vapor. It is a zone of zero tolerance. Drivers who load their tanker trucks at the "rack" must ground their vehicles before a single drop of fuel flows. The loading arms are equipped with vapor recovery systems to suck up fumes before they escape into the atmosphere. It is a place of high-stakes silence, where millions of gallons of gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel—enough potential energy to level a small town—sit quietly, waiting to be pumped into the veins of the city's transport network.
