We were sitting with her discussing possible recipes for the forthcoming workshops. One conversation led to the other, and we were obviously keen to know more about her life and experiences. This dish, a favorite of Uttam Kumar, would be more remembered for the legendary Chhobi Biswas, Supriya Devi said. She was so blessed to be showered by the love and affection of this iconic elderly actor. One morning she received a call from him stating that he did not have any arrangement for lunch, and she was asked to bring it over to the studio where he was shooting. She had the raw fish in her refrigerator which she took out, cooked, and packed for him. He loved the simple dish, and later too remembered it lots of times. Supriya Devi associates this dish with the protagonist of ‘Jalsaghar’.
