Описание: In Out of Context Pt 2: For I Know the Plans, Walking The Text Founder Brad Gray unpacks the oft-quoted words of Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to proper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Stripped of its context, this verse is catastrophic to one’s faith journey because appears to indicate that pain and difficulty shouldn’t be part of God’s plans for our lives. As a result, Jeremiah 29:11 is a passage hurting people hold onto as one of “God’s promises” during challenging seasons of life.

However, Jeremiah 29 was written to a group of Jews living in exile in Babylon. While they pondered God’s plans for their lives, there was a showdown taking place between a group of true and false prophets in Jeremiah 26-29. The true prophets claimed the exile was going to last a while. The false prophets said God wouldn’t let his people suffer and it would all be over soon. Who do you think the people listened to? (Hint, they murdered one of the true prophets.)
