Put the lighter away🔥
Newer furnaces (since about 2010) typically don’t have pilot lights, but instead use an electronic ignition system.
This is because standing pilot lights waste energy by constantly burning gas to keep the flame lit.
If you have a newer fuenace, you can try resetting the electronic ignition by turning it off and then pressing the reset button.
Here are some other things you can try if your furnace isn’t turning on:
-Check thermostat batteries
-Check for a tripped circuit breaker
-Check that furnace power is switched on
-Check if the filter is dirty
Gas is dangerous and poking around with a lighter could end badly😬 Be sure you know what you’re doing when lighting an older furnace pilot light (look up furnace model online for directions for your specific furnace)
