Today I am sharing a video on sundarban honey collection: a troublesome task.

The Sundarbans is the largest single mangrove forest in the world. The Sundarbans were declared by UNESCO as world heritage in 21 May 1997 and were declared as first Ramsar site of Bangladesh in 21 May 1992.
However, #Sundarban_honey is a unique geographical indicator. Some of the dwellers namely Mawali traditionally depends on the forest #honey and wax for their lives and livelihood. Mainly #sundarban_honey_collection starts from the Bengali month Chaitrya (April). There are three kinds of bees in the Sundarbans. Kholsha #honey is the best and white in color and sweet in taste and locally it is called Padma modhu (Lotus #honey). Spring brings flowers to Sundarban. First to arrive are the flowers of Kholsha plants. Then Possur trees bloom. Finally the Goran trees' flowers appear. Many other plants also bloom - such as the beautiful purple Hargoza flowers - but these three flowers are special. They have nectar that bees collect. Thus it is that every year over two hundred tons of #honey (and a smaller amount of beeswax) is collected from the wild beehives of Sundarban.
