India Rejects Pakistan's Flooding Allegations, Says Chenab Water Rise Was Due to Heavy Monsoon Rain

Описание: India has firmly rejected Pakistan's allegations that it deliberately caused flooding across the border, calling the claims "baseless" and unsupported by evidence. Responding to the accusations, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the sharp rise in the Chenab River was a natural consequence of heavy monsoon rainfall over Jammu and upstream catchment areas between July 20 and 23.

India also cited Pakistan's own Flood Forecasting Division, which attributed the high water levels to intense rainfall rather than upstream intervention. New Delhi further denied withholding flood-related information and reiterated that it would continue sharing high-flood data on humanitarian grounds whenever necessary. The MEA also reaffirmed that the Indus Waters Treaty remains in abeyance until Pakistan credibly ends support for cross-border terrorism.
