This is the first time using these pencils in a video and I basically wanted to show them off!
These colour pencils I am using are the Derwent Procolour Colouring Pencils and I absolutely love them! These are the perfect colour pencils for this drawing as they are richly pigmented and they layer so well as you can see from the textures in the shell. They have the feel of oil pencils but without smudging and they are really smooth on the paper😍 I love the variety of vibrant colours in this set and they really pop on the paper. There are a couple of colours in the set which aren't very vibrant and seem out of place in this set so I don't really gravitate to those colours however I did use one of them at the end but you can't even see it on the paper, so I gave up!
I used the Faber-Castell sketching paper this time which works really well with these Pencils.
Sea Turtles are probably my favourite sea animal alongside sharks but after last weeks video using limited colours with the Giraffe, I wanted this video to explode with colour. And what better subject than a Sea Turtle.
I absolutely love the vibrancy and texture of this drawing. I actually felt calm and at peace
while I spent my time on this and I think it shows. I know it would look better with its surroundings than floating on a page but I get overwhelmed when doing compositions hence why at the moment I only focus on the subject and I do not include the surroundings. It also takes a long time using colour pencils compared to paints. For example my peacock where I use watercolour (my very first video!!!) took about 2 hours, where as my Turtle in this video took over 5 hours over two days.
I hope you love what I created this week as much as I do.
I am not sponsored and I am not affiliated with Derwent.

There is also a 12 set and a 36 set of colour pencils.
I actually bought my set from the Derwent Museum shop in Keswick, Lake District while I was vacationing there last year.
