CAPE HORN Rally for Cruisers 2020

Описание: Greetings, we are CEDENA, a non-profit organization, a sailing school, our mission is to contribute to young people’s education through their participation in our Nautical Sports School and Club in the city of Puerto Williams, Cape Horn Chile.
During 2019, among sailors from different nationalities, who come every season to Puerto Williams and are aware of what Cape Horn represents to the sailing community, came the idea of hosting a challenge for cruisers; a “Rally for Cruisers” type of event, for every sailboat from 30 feet or higher, an event with different laps, starting in Puerto Williams, with the challenge of reaching the mythical Cape Horn.
The following images show the highlights of the second version of the rally, which took place on February 2020.
Our mission:

1. Strengthen our non-profit organization www.cedenapw.cl, generate awareness of our sailing school as a social transformation tool. We are a country surrounded by the ocean, we believe everybody should have access to nautical activities, and to have the opportunity to self-develop in completely free sailing school with social integration which integrates kids and young people from different backgrounds
2. Encourage our kids to keep dreaming. We want them to be aware of the opportunities that are involved in the sailing world, we want them to understand that sailing can become a tool of self-development. As they grow they will benefit from this knowledge, here in Puerto Williams as on the rest of the world.
3. Show the importance of the Chilean Navy (Armada de Chile) in the southern region of Chile, as they safeguard human life at sea, and protect marine biodiversity.
4. Promote our country, specifically the Cape Horn region, the city of Puerto Williams as a nautical city, a base port where the sailors from all around the world come and wait for the proper weather conditions to reach Cape Horn, sail the Chilean Patagonia, or the most adventurers, sail across the Drake’s passage and reach Antarctica.
5. Generate awareness about the contamination of the sea, and to promote the significant reduction of ocean pollution, on our beaches and marine biodiversity.
Since its discovery Cape Horn has become of great importance. Every sailor consider that crossing Cape Horn is a distinctive milestone in their careers, its mere mention arouses admiration. Our intention is to promote the sovereignty of Chile in the region, and to stimulate the interest of our marine traditions and folklore.
