The fact is, yes, the righteous will NEVER be forsaken, but that doesn't mean we don't feel discouragement. Luckily, we serve a God who knows our (human) tendency to forget His goodness and faithfulness and left us instructions in Joshua 4 on how we can combat our discouragement and encourage ourselves in the the character of God when we need it most.
