📘 Equivalent Fractions | How to Make & Check Equivalent Fractions | Class 6 | CH-5 PART-4
Welcome to FunMathology — Part 4 of our Fractions chapter for CBSE Class 6. In this lesson we learn:
What are equivalent fractions ?
Answer: Equivalent fractions are different fractions that represent the same part of a whole.
How to Create Equivalent Fractions
To make equivalent fractions, multiply the numerator and denominator by the same non-zero number.
👉 Example:
1/3 X 2/2 = 2/6; 1/3 X 3/3 =3/9
Both fractions represent the same value, so 1/3 and 2/6 are equivalent.
How To check if two fractions are equivalent, use the cross-multiplication method:
If a/b=c/d, then a×d=b×c
👉 Example:
2/3 and 6/9 ---- 2X9=3X6=18
✅ Hence, both fractions are equivalent.
