What better way to welcome the sunshine of spring than with an upbeat, calypso-styled tune? Celebración del Sol was written to fill that need! The tune itself follows the basic AABA Rhythm changes with catchy syncopated licks, musical conversations among sections of the band, and two shout choruses. The chart concludes with a massive crescendo in the last three bars, peaking at the final note of the chart—time to celebrate!! As with all First Place for Jazz charts, all players have the opportunity to improvise a solo using only notes of the familiar concert F Major scale or play the suggested solo provided in all student parts.
