Описание: Indie rock 4-piece Couch Dog can’t help but exude a rowdy garage band vibe despite their undeniable musical prowess. It's simply ingrained in their sound, performance, and attitude. When they arrived at the studio, an air of cautious optimism floated in alongside the group's West Coast demeanor and genuine charisma. Clearly determined to put on a show, guitarist Pablo hurried in his gear as I shook hands with Max, the lead vocalist. This set was important, I learned. In a matter of months, the band was taking the classic leap of moving to LA. A tale as old as time for a successful, rising band such as themselves. But, as with all tales: there comes a twist. Their trusty drummer, Josh, was not coming with them. I looked to Tasha, unpacking her bass, and got the nod of confirmation that this was in fact a farewell set.

Pulling tracks from their 2023 album, How To Ruin Your Life Fast, Couch Dog distills the band's years of collaboration into a four-song setlist. Throughout, moments of tension and relief appear as each track successfully amounts to an emotionally charged showcase of what this group of four accomplished together. Pablo's focused breath cutting through the silence before he absolutely shreds on the last track gets me every time. Still, this set alludes to the band's future with the premiere of something new altogether. Catch their upcoming single “Isabelle” between lively bandmate banter in this tight set at Bliss Forest Studio, tucked in the lush greenery of San Luis Obispo, California.
