What is Parole?
Parole is an internationally accepted mechanism that provides for the conditional release of offenders from correctional centres into society before they have served their entire sentence of imprisonment.
This means that the offenders are released from the correctional centre prior to the expiry of their sentence to serve the remainder thereof within the community until the sentence expires.
Offenders will be returned to the Correctional centre to serve the remainder of their sentence if they break their parole conditions.
