PIE IN THE SKY is a dramedy about two women, Dory (65) and her mother, Margaret (85), who live together in a mobile home in Abilene, TX. On one morning in particular—Dory’s birthday, Margaret wakes early with the overwhelming need to bake Dory an apple pie. Awoken by the noise, Dory reluctantly joins her mother, and together, they assemble the pie and talk. As Margaret teaches Dory the old family recipe and her recipe for life, they bake, and Mama reveals some long-kept life secrets that alter Dory’s understanding of her past. With Mama’s flurry of surprises for Dory’s birthday and the reveal of confidence, the pie comes out of the oven, and Dory’s world is forever changed.
