This week we’re tackling the Savannah Way ALT Route in our Next Gen Ford Ranger and Network RV caravan. Starting from Daly Waters, we make our way towards Borroloola with plenty of epic stops and challenges along the way.

Our first stop is the Heartbreak Hotel, where we take an incredible 15-minute helicopter flight over the Lost City, followed by a guided walk through the stunning sandstone formations. After a classic Aussie pub meal at the roadhouse, Chelsea shows how she preps the caravan for dirt roads — making sure everything is secure before hitting the rough tracks.

In Borroloola, we stock up on fuel, food, and supplies before dropping tyre pressures ready for the notorious corrugations. The road out is rough and slow, and we experience our first breakage — a snapped caravan antenna. Next, we set up camp along the Foelsche River, where we find a slow tyre leak but enjoy a peaceful evening by the water, cooling off at the shallow crossing before continuing our outback adventure.
