S.A.L.A.D. stands for Suction-Assisted Laryngoscopy with Airway Decontamination.

Bleeding or fluids in the pharynx can complicate the visualization, as in these cases a clear view of the larynx for insertion of the endotracheal tube is not possible.

In this video, Dr. Jim DuCanto, anesthesiologist and educator for airway management, explains the intubation technique that he has developed step by step.

1. Continually decontaminate the pharynx with the suction tube
2. Insert the video larnygoscope and create space for the endotracheal tube
3. Perform intubation and verify correct placement
