South Korean auto giants,... such as Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors,... will soon be able to move into the secondhand car market... following a decision made on Thursday by the government.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups says it will no longer designate the secondhand trading of cars as a "subsistence business"... as the industry turns over vast amounts of money each year.
Subsistence businesses are designated to ban huge corporations from advancing into industries with low revenues.
The ministry added that, with corporations joining the industry, consumers will have a wider range of options available to them.
However,... related regulations still need to be ironed out,... which means the decision will not be enforced for the time being.... as smaller firms have raised monopoly concerns.
