Anchunaad(5villages) is a brotherhood of five villages sourounded by the bliss of nilgirimountains.they are becoming one of the most popular travellers destination in kerala.each of these village unique for its altitude and culture.
Marayor village act as the gateway famous for its natural sandal wood forests and jaggery is located at the bottom of the other four villages.
Then comes on the way to the uphill kaarayoor,keezhaanthoor,Puthoor and at the top Kanthalloor one of the two highest human settlements of Kerala.

in Every kilometre there is something to explore apart from the scenic beauty of the high mountains itself.
Manual jaggery production using firewood and a large vessel,lemon grass distling units using old methods and the paleo lithic dolmens are worth visiting and document.some places provides stunning panoramic view points.all those villages are famous for its vegetable and fruit cultivation ...but the highest village Kanthalloor is known as the Fruit basket of Kerala and the Kashmir of the state.for a visitor this land offer an experience of a crop museum .
the orchards are mostly a mixed plantation of exotic fruit trees from different parts of the world but mostly
from South American countries.
The sweet cherry moya ,white saphota and black saphotas are the most popular fruits here and there are typical western country fruits like apples, pears, plums,peach, strawberry,black berry and more.
The large area of vegetable cultivation
Is famous for its winter crops like carrots,beatroot, cabbage, potatoes and many other European vegetables and the mountain garlic produced here is well known for its medicinal uses.

Above and around these villages are a chain of national parks, wildlife sanctuary and sandal wood forests .the ancient rock formations here are clustered with large number of honey comb... there are a lot of facilities to explore forests and wildlife like trekking jeep Safari, camping on tree house and tenting.
All this can be experienced in one or two days but the place is ideal for long stay holidays.
There are around More than 100 staying facilities here but most of them are without enough staff for tourist catering needs or any attendants.
