I Trusted AI With My Road Trip—Big Mistake

Описание: I let artificial intelligence take the wheel - literally. Instead of spending hours poring over maps and hunting for hidden gems, I handed the reins to AI - specifically, ChatGPT's Deep Research function - and asked it to plan my next mountain road trip. It responded with GPS coordinates, the promise of a secluded alpine lake, and the reassurance that the road was “suitable for most vehicles.”

So I decided to trust it. No backup plans, no safety net - just me, my van, and the algorithm’s guidance.

What followed was part experiment, part adventure, and part lesson in what we risk when we outsource our curiosity to machines. Could AI really deliver the freedom, surprise, and sense of discovery that make travel so rewarding - or would this journey take a wrong turn?

This is the story of what happened when I handed over one of the most personal aspects of my life - my approach to travel and what I think about artificial intelligence and its role in our lives.
