Описание: MassWildlife operates five fish hatcheries, located in Sandwich, Belchertown, Montague, Sunderland, and Palmer. Rainbow, brown, brook, and tiger trout are raised for stocking rivers, streams, lakes, and ponds throughout the Commonwealth. Biologists sort the fish by gender and check if the fish are ready to spawn. Milt is collected from the males and eggs are carefully extracted from females. Then, milt and eggs are combined and water is added to aid the fertilization process. Fish are quickly returned to the water to minimize stress. Fertilized eggs will hatch into fry after approximately 2 months. After growing for 1.5–2.5 years, these fish will be stocked in waters across the state.
