Howdy! It's me, your best friend!

Alright, we made it! Any older fans of me know I couldn't do this Undertale album without doing this song. I mean, Asriel is my favourite character in Undertale (I've outright said I'd date him if he were real and my age; my image of him is my perfect boyfriend... incidentally probably helped keep me alive and feeling less alone in 2024), he was originally on the cover of the album, of course I was going to do his phase one music for a tribute to my favourite game. However, because of the emotional weight it holds for me, nailing down this song was EXTREMELY difficult. I wanted to dive through a bunch of different feels like I've always done, but I also didn't want to stray too far away from the original either. That made arranging it very hard.

Beyond that, there's also just... a lot of layers of music I had to put in. I referenced FamilyJules' cover of this song quite a bit to make sure I captured all the parts properly, but on the whole I tried to figure it all out myself. And that was very difficult. I think overall I did a good job, but this was the song I was absolutely the pickiest with, and spent the longest time working on. I think this album as a whole is definitely the longest I've spent on an album project, yes even including Vengeful Spirit. Especially since I knew I was releasing it this year, I was working double time THE WHOLE YEAR to make this as perfect as I could.

In the end... it's finally here! "Despite Everything, It's Still You" will be available on streaming services very soon! Obviously, this is the last cover of Year 1 as well, so I'll be doing a wrap up video tomorrow to talk about how the year went, and to make a few announcements. However, for now, thank you Materia for believing in me and helping make this album a reality; it truly was a dream come true to work on this. But more importantly, thank you for listening to my music, being a fan, and supporting my weekly project! I'm still just getting started, and I hope to see you soon for even more projects!
