Conflicting accounts after assault at downtown Sacramento protest

Описание: An anti-ICE protest in downtown Sacramento turned violent over the weekend, leading to a police investigation into an alleged assault. Sacramento police say a protester was assaulted Saturday afternoon near the John Moss Federal Building on the 500 block of N Street. Officers responded just before 3:30 p.m., but police say the suspects left before officers arrived.
The protester, Scott Stauffer, told ABC10 he was not with a large group when the incident happened and says a convoy of vehicles drove by before people damaged his car, shattered windows, and assaulted him. A man identified as Matt, who says he was part of the convoy, disputes that account and says the group was not looking for a fight, claiming he was told the protester attacked one of their vehicles first. Police say the motive behind the incident remains under investigation and that no arrests have been confirmed at this time.
