Trump’s Board of Peace: Which Countries Joined and Who Refused

Описание: U.S. President Donald Trump’s ambitious “Board of Peace” initiative is rapidly reshaping global diplomacy, drawing support from dozens of countries while alarming traditional allies and United Nations diplomats. The board, originally proposed to oversee post-war Gaza, has expanded into a broader conflict-resolution mechanism, prompting fears it could undermine the UN’s authority.

According to the White House, around 35 world leaders have accepted Trump’s invitation so far. Supporters include key Middle Eastern allies such as Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and Egypt, as well as NATO members Turkey and Hungary. Several Asian, African and Latin American nations have also joined, alongside Armenia and Azerbaijan, which signed a U.S.-brokered peace deal last year. More controversially, Belarus has accepted, signalling a thaw in ties with Washington.

At the same time, resistance is growing. Norway, Sweden and France have declined, while Italy has raised constitutional concerns. Canada has agreed in principle, but details remain unresolved. Major powers like Britain, Germany, Japan, Russia and China have yet to commit, with Moscow and Beijing wary of any move that weakens the UN Security Council.

Although the UN has given the board a limited Gaza-focused mandate until 2027, questions remain over its wider authority, enforcement powers and Trump’s sweeping control as chairman.
