YouTuber Felix Gerald was arrested by the cybercrime wing of the Greater Chennai Police on Tuesday for allegedly posting misleading claims about the Karur stampede at TVK leader Vijay’s rally, which killed 41 people. The police sought judicial remand when he was produced before the XI Metropolitan Magistrate Court, but Gerald was granted conditional bail that night. Advocates Pulianthope Mohan and D Johnson said the court was not convinced by the police’s reasoning. His wife, Jane Felix, expressed distress, stating that he was only “bringing out the truth” and questioned whether freedom of expression still exists.
