Failing at "Adventure," repeatedly - slow downs, deep snow and up the river without a paddle

We start our morning at a beautiful campsite overlooking Coeur d'Alene and head north to the far northwest corner of Idaho which contains the worlds largest inland temperate rainforest. My quest for a hike and a paddle are thwarted by time constraints, weather and technical problems. I do meet a great border patrol agent who guided me to an accessible secret waterfall hike. The day ends well though, with a great hike-in campsite on Priest Lake where I do a little fishing and spend the evening hanging with Fluffy Dog as I make plans for the next stage of our journey.

Pasta with Red Sauce Recipe
(Makes two servings)

4 ounces Penne pasta
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1-2 tablespoons butter
1.5 ounces Prosciutto (use the left over from the package for cantaloupe and prosciutto the next day)
1-2 teaspoons red pepper flakes (depends how hot you want it)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup heavy cream

Sauté Prosciutto in butter until lightly cooked, then add pepper, salt and red pepper flakes and sauté for a minute or two. Add diced tomatoes. I don't bother draining them. Add heavy cream and stir well. Allow to simmer for 20-30 minutes, or until it thickens up, stirring occasionally. While the sauce is simmering, boil the pasta. Drain the pasta and stir the pasta into the sauce. Serve with freshly grated parmesan.
