Deck creators Andrea Wan, Megan King and Aaron Dawkins created the deck as a tool that is accessible to people in all ages and stages of life, from any belief system. With its focus being on self-empowerment, each of the deck's 77 cards represent a different life stage or experience and altogether these make up a life's journey.

The artwork is definitely striking; its monochrome design and visually stimulating images evoke an otherworldly quality to me. POESIS was created with the 'divine feminine journey' in mind, which deck creators say offers a nurturing energy to work with. While each card carries its own significant energy, there's no one definite way to look at the card meaning. Because of this, the deck does not include a guidebook. Instead, you get an instruction sheet with some brief info on the deck, how to use it and instructions to visit the Poesis Poem Library where you can find a poem for each card, written by Megan King.
