The historical city of Sewan (commonly known as Sehwan Sharif) is located in the Jamshoro District of Sindh, Pakistan. It holds immense historical, cultural, and spiritual importance, particularly in the context of Sindh's Sufi heritage.
Sehwan is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Sindh, with its history dating back to the Indus Valley Civilization.
Sehwan became a prominent center of Sufism after the arrival of Islam in Sindh in
the 8th century.
The city is best known as the final resting place of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (1177-
1274), a revered Sufi saint of the Suhrawardi order. His shrine, built in the 14th century, attracts millions of devotees annually, symbolizing interfaith harmony and the spiritual heritage of Sindh.
Sehwan Sharif is a vibrant hub of Sindhi
culture and Sufi traditions. The annual urs (death anniversary) of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar is celebrated with great fervor, featuring qawwali (devotional music) and dhamaal (spiritual dance).
